VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
It has just recently come to my attention that the brainiacs over at Comcast have decided to cut their Bluegrass channel. While not the most innovative means of getting your bluegrass fix, the station is a plus for people like me that live in areas where bluegrass isn’t king (e.g. Miami). We have talked about other bad news for bluegrass, but this just adds to my frustration.
For those that aren’t in the know, the bluegrass station on Comcast’s On-Demand service (which isn’t cheap by the way) was a great way for novice listeners to get turned on to the wonderful world of bluegrass, a starting point for deep bluegrass exploration.
But alas, they have dealt bluegrass music in modern media another frustrating blow. Why? Well as of April 15, Comcast decided that there is “no interest in bluegrass music”. Would I have this blog if there was no interest, could organizations like the IBMA exist if there was no interest?
What a load of crap.
My contact at Comcast is Brian Jeter. His e-mail address is Brian_jeter@cable.comcast.com. We would appreciate it if you could send Brian Jeter daily e-mails for one week complaining about Comcast prejudice against bluegrass fans. I told Brian that they can lose a lot of customers to DirecTV as it has a bluegrass channel with xm radio.
Let’s try to get this service back online so that bluegrass can stay current with new technologies.
